How we work

Turn your attic into a hotel room.
This family lives with their two children in a 1930s house in Utrecht and wishes from our interior advice to give the spacious attic a new function. After an initial intake interview, it appears that they are looking for a solution for a more spacious bedroom/playroom for their son, a guest room for grandmother, a study for the father, a study for their daughter and a second bathroom plus laundry room in the attic.
The family was the first to think about furnishing the attic for their son. Our proposal was to give the attic a 'hotel room feeling' and to provide this space with all comforts. The room would then be divided into three areas: a sleeping area, work area and a bathroom. The spaces are separated from each other by glass walls, which preserves the openness.
By providing the stairs with a different rotation, space is gained. The son moves on to the large room of the parents on the 1st floor and the small room on the same floor has a double function as a guest room and study for their daughter.
