Stichting Cazas Wonen feels right at home at the office

Commissioned by Stichting Cazas Wonen and De Waal Beheer BV, Muurbloem design studio realized the interior design for a 3,000 m² headquarters for the Woerden housing corporation. With a homely atmosphere that enables staff to work effectively and allows residents to feel warmly welcomed, this new headquarters is a future-proof workplace where the organization can continue to dedicate itself to the living happiness of its residents for many years to come.

 

In an era where working from home is common, attracting employees back to the office remains a challenge for many employers, but not for Stichting Cazas Wonen. During the process of renovating their former headquarters, it became clear that the organization had outgrown the building. While searching for a new location, they connected with De Waal Beheer, owner of a spacious property on Pelmolenlaan in the Middelland business park. To reach an agreement quickly with the prospective tenant, Muurbloem, already a trusted partner, was asked to develop a design on short notice that would enable the organization to operate successfully for the duration of the lease.

 

Under the working title “Feel At Home In The Office,” Muurbloem developed a contemporary working environment within four weeks; one that accommodates all organizational activities and captures the foundation’s identity through strong interior architecture and fresh material choices. During the design phase, Muurbloem also prepared a full project cost estimate, allowing Cazas to closely monitor budgets and make adjustments where necessary.

 

On behalf of De Waal Beheer, which as owner oversaw the structural building components, Muurbloem was responsible for the supply and realization of interior sun shading, sheer curtains, area rugs, and custom furniture, including locker units, the reception desk, and wall finishes.

 

The concept groups the organization’s activities into three categories, each with its own color: collaboration (green), focused work (blue), and meeting one another (red). A custom carpet tile pattern was designed in which the three colors blend into one another, symbolizing the social fabric of which the organization is a part, as well as the different disciplines working together within it. These three colors continue into the partition walls, all finished with high-quality textured wallpaper and custom-designed seamless printed wall coverings.

Highlights include the botanical light fixture in the building’s entrance hall, unfolding above the lobby’s living-room-style seating area. In the colorful work-lunch café, employees can enjoy fresh lunches and work on their projects in an informal setting. On the third floor, beneath the sloped roof, the organization comes together in a playful creative space for brainstorming, presenting, and relaxing.

At the same time, an extensive furniture inventory was created for Cazas, covering existing furnishings from two locations, most of which were reused. Muurbloem organized the redistribution of this furniture throughout the new spaces and made an additional selection of new furniture and lighting, all supplied and installed by the Muurbloem installation team.

 

Highlights include a custom-designed light fixture in the entrance atrium and a specially designed feature element.
